The Beginning

Ferguson was chartered in 1968 and operated in a small vacant office of St. Regis Corporation with the purpose of offering financial services to the employees of the lumber mill in Monticello. As we grew, we established a branch close to the mill and grew our membership by serving Miles Lumber Companies. For many years we operated with a small crew of employees dedicated to serving our loyal members.

Ferguson FCU serves the following counties: Jefferson, Copiah, Simpson, Franklin, Lincoln, Lawrence, Jefferson Davis, Amite, Pike, Walthall, and Marion

Growth

In 2014, Ferguson petitioned the NCUA to expand our membership. We were granted the opportunity to offer membership to all of Lawrence County. We added new products and services and more staff. In 2015, Ferguson opened the second student-run branch in the state of Mississippi inside Lawrence County High School. In 2016, the NCUA granted Ferguson a second expansion opportunity which allows us to serve 11 other counties – Amite, Copiah, Franklin, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lincoln, Marion, Pike, Simpson, Walthall, and South Rankin. In total, we serve 12 counties in Southwest Mississippi and we look forward to future opportunities to grow and serve.

The Vision

For more than 50 years, Ferguson has served with one primary purpose – improving the lives of those in the communities we serve. Since 2013, we have seen exponential growth and have been recognized as one of the fastest-growing credit unions in the State of Mississippi. In keeping with the global credit union mission of “people helping people”, Ferguson offers the highest quality products and services, lowest fees, competitive interest rates, and the most personalized service in our area. Though we continue to grow and push the boundaries set by traditional financial institutions, we are dedicated to maintaining our hometown atmosphere and attitude. Being a part of Ferguson is more than just having a savings account or a loan; it is being a part of a truly great community organization, sharing a common goal with employees and fellow members, and contributing to a healthy cooperative.
